Emergency Mould Remediation for a Travelling Athlete – A Rapid Response Story

Sometimes, life throws unexpected challenges at the worst possible moment. We recently received a call from a young, up-and-coming footballer who had travelled all the way from America to stay at a London Airbnb, only to be greeted by an unpleasant and worrying sight — a full microbial outbreak had taken over the bathroom.


Understandably concerned for his health and training, he reached out to Mr. Flood Ltd — and we leapt into action.


Within moments, we were on-site. Although we recommended a full survey, the priority was clear: get the mould gone, fast and safely. We got to work performing a meticulous mould remediation, taking every measure to ensure the space was safe and hygienic.


While carrying out the works, we offered a free inspection of the surrounding area and quickly identified the root cause — a leaking tap allowing water to escape and pool behind the shower unit, fuelling the microbial growth. We immediately alerted the Airbnb host, who has since requested further repairs to prevent any future recurrences.


To ensure peace of mind for our guest, and to protect his performance and wellbeing during his training, we ran air scrubbers and carried out a ULV fogging treatment across the entire property. The result? Clean, fresh air and a mould-free space.


Our guest was extremely happy with the outcome, even leaving a heart-warming review that reminded us why we do what we do. It was our pleasure to assist him in his time of need, and we remain ready to support him again — though hopefully under better circumstances next time.
